What to Expect + FAQs
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
No drinking heavily the day before your appointment.
Take a break from glycol’s, retinoids, vitamin c serums at least two weeks prior.
Lasers, peels, and waxing should be done two weeks before or two weeks after your appointment.
DAY OF APPOINTMENT
Please come with your brows filled in how you normally wear them—don’t worry we’ll be wiping any makeup off. If you don’t typically fill them in then don’t worry about it. This is just to see what you’re used to seeing every day.
When you arrive we’ll chat about your brows, clean them off and take some pictures. Then mark points out on your face and start drawing the shape of one brow. The shape is drawn out with a black, wax pencil that looks bold so please pay no attention to the color or harshness, just the overall shape. Once you approve the shape, we’ll move on to matching the other brow!
When you love both brows, I’ll clean up any stray hairs and apply the numbing cream which will sit for 20-30 minutes.
Then we begin! The actual microblading takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes and we will be numbing you again halfway so pain is very minimal.
When you leave your skin may be red if you have sensitive skin but most people look normal, but with BOMB-looking brows. You can continue your day as normal.
DAY TO WEEK AFTER
Most likely you’ll wake up the first morning after and think, “AHHHHHHHHHHH THESE ARE DARK!”. Don’t worry, you’re going to feel more emotions about your eyebrows in the next week than you have your whole life but just go with the flow. Here’s what to expect:
Day 1- Brows will be dark, feel warm in color, possibly be tender to the touch.
Day 2-4- You’re now used to how dark they are and you like it.
Day 5-7- A little itchy, starting to lift and maybe peel.
Day 7-10- Brow are shedding the light scab that formed and you feel they are very light.
After your brows have shed the scab they’ll feel light. You’ve just gotten used to how dark and vibrant the scab was and also this is a two step process so we can always go darker and denser in the touch-up. Microblading will NEVER be as vibrant in color as brow makeup on top of your skin.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a permanent makeup technique that uses a tiny, manual tool to make hair-like strokes in the skin.
What are Powder brows?
Powder is a technique that uses a digital tattoo machine to tattoo a shadow-like effect into the skin. There is no powder actually used but the final look resembles a soft brow as if you filled them in using powder.
Does it hurt?
Typically no. You’ll be numbed twice!
What is the process like?
When you come in for your initial session we will first discuss your brow goals (please come in with your brows filled in how you normally wear them so I can see what you’re used to seeing) then your brows will be cleaned off and golden ratio points will be mapped out on your brow area. A shape will be drawn and approved by you before we move forward. After the shape is approved, you’ll be numbed using a topical anesthetic for 30 minutes.
Color options will be discussed while you numb. Once we begin Microblading the process takes about 45 minutes.
What will I look like immediately after?
Right after your appointment, you may be a little red around the brow area. They may also feel a bit tender. You will be able to continue with your day after the appointment.
How long does it take to heal?
7-10 days.
When and what is the touch-up?
8-12 weeks after the initial appointment. The second session is to touch up any spots that may be patchy, make minor shape changes or go darker with the color. It is a two-session process to achieve the final result. Any 8-12 week touch ups done outside of this time frame may be charged and extra fee.
When are color boosts done?
If you are wanting to keep your brows up then a color boost is needed. This should be done 2-3 years after your initial appointment. Your brows should be very faded before scheduling. Please email a photo of your brows in natural light, with no makeup, to your artist to schedule.
